Skate Louis: About…
The first thing that needs to be said about what Skate Louis is about is to explain that this is NOT a TEAM. It’s simple, if you skate and live in the St. Louis area, then you’re Skate Louis. There won’t be any need to send in video to get sponsored.
It’s pretty simple, I am constantly thinking of things that make me say, “That would be a cool T-shirt”, and so I did. My first three ideas were the shirts you see in the non black colored shirts, “If it’s concrete you can skate it”, “Skateboards, chicks and rock and roll” and the third one was “All Skateboarding is Valid”. The next idea was just the simple “Skate Louis” after that the concept of….”or the terrorists win” to which I applied, “Go Skateboarding”. It comes in two versions the less in your face “cop” version and the darker and I think more to the point, “towers” shirt. Is it too soon? Obviously I don’t think so. I have more ideas coming……stay tuned. In the mean time buy them while they last.
Do you live in the St. Louis area? Do you skate? Look in the mirror…..you’re Skate Louis.
About Me:
I got by first skateboard in 1976. It was a Hang Ten made out of aluminum. I bought it at a Venture store in the sporting goods department. It was a complete set up and since this was a “real” skateboard unlike the plastic Cal-240’s with loose ball bearings it was kept in a case with two Gordon and Smith Fiberflex decks. At that point I just didn’t have quit enough money to spend on one of those. That would have to wait for my 13th birthday. I’ve been skating ever since.
From the local streets and parking lots to shoddy ramps made of pretty much one sheet of plywood on a wobbly frame to the concrete parks in the late 70’s, from there to backyard ramps all over the area including my own backyard. During this time I found punk rock and started playing in a band which hooked me up with even more skaters not just in St. Louis but across the country and the world. I’m still rolling around on a piece of wood today.
